Friction stir welding (FSW) is a new solid-state welding method. A
rotating tool with
a specially designed pin and shoulder is inserted into the
workpiece to be jointed and
traverses along welding direction, through heat produced by
friction and plastic work.
And the soften material was extruded by the shoulder, thereby the
high quality joints
are achieved under the thermal-mechanical action.
